Prescriptions

Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat medication can be ordered online at any time of the day or night via online access or the NHS App, or by telephone between 08:30 and 13:00 on our dedicated Precription Ordering Line on 01668 280020

To register for online services, including making appointments, contact reception for a login name and initial password.

It is important that you give us your full name and address and also exactly what medication you need to order.  It helps the receptionist if you read the names from the slip that was in the bag with your last medication rather than what is on the box itself.

It is also important that you give us at least 72 hours  (3 working days) notice before you need  to collect your medication as we, or the pharmacy, may need to order it from our suppliers.

Due to increased workload, we ask, if you can, to give us a week's notice before you need to collect medication from our own dispensary.  You can normally order up to 10 days in advance so you don't run short and this will help us enormously.

Medication Reviews

New patients to the practice who are on repeat medication will be asked to make an appointment with the doctor for a medication review prior to any medicines being issued.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Dispensing

For dispensing patients (those who live more than a mile from a pharmacy and have their medication dispensed at the surgery), medication can be collected between 08:30 & 18:00 Monday to Friday and normally up until  20:00 on Thursdays.  However, as the first hour each morning is extremely busy, if possible, please collect after 10am.

If you don't pay for your medication other than because of age, you must present evidence to the dispensing staff so that the correct information can be added to the prescription to go to the Prescription Pricing Authority.   We can record this on your medical records so you don't have to bring it each time.   If we don't have evidence, you will be charged for each item and will have to reclaim this from the Prescription Pricing Authority.

Medicines Delivery Service

We deliver medicines to outlets in Milfield, Lowick and Powburn normally by 10am on a Friday morning but this time cannot be guaranteed due to staff working hours which may change. To take advantage of this free service and to ensure delivery, orders must be in by 12 noon on the previous Friday at the latest   (remember you can order repeat medication up to 10 days in advance).  Please tell the receptionist that you would like your medicine to be delivered each time you order.

This service is not offered or paid for by the NHS.  It’s offered only by the generosity of our staff who deliver the medication for you on their way home.  We are therefore unable to offer this service when staff are on holiday or sick leave but will let you know when you order your medication.  We may also be unable to offer the service during periods of inclement weather if the roads are unsafe.

We cannot deliver refrigerated items, controlled drugs and, if you pay for your medication, this must be paid in advance of delivery.

If you need medicines urgently, please contact the surgery during normal hours.

After hours, at weekends or during Bank Holidays, contact NHS 111
